‘Plunge’ Installation

Plunge is a painted installation created for the entrance of Calgary’s Central Library during the second annual Chinook Blast winter festival. Designed in collaboration with PARK and hand-painted onto a wooden structure, the installation acted as a vibrant gateway to the four-week festival while hosting rotating pop-ups, including a balloon installation from Calgary Party 50 and a floral display by Fox Glove Studio.

The design blends warm sunlit hues with cool icy blues to reflect Calgary’s dramatic seasonal shifts. Flowing wave-like forms reference the familiar warmth of chinook winds cutting through winter’s cold. Conceptually, Plunge reflects the idea of change—an experience shared collectively during the pandemic—reminding viewers that even in the coldest moments, something brighter is on the horizon.
